Nature Masterclass: Communicating to Non-Research Audiences – Dec. 4, 2024
Session Description
December 4 2024 @ 8:45 am - 5:00 pm
The Centre for Research & Innovation Support (CRIS) has partnered with Nature Masterclasses to provide a no-cost limited enrolment Masterclass focusing on communicating research to non-research audiences.
It is becoming increasingly important for researchers to be able to clearly communicate their research to a broader audience, such as the public, the press, and even funding organizations. However, communicating complex specialized findings in an understandable and general manner is challenging for many researchers. This workshop provides attendees with practical strategies on how to achieve this goal.
Participants will engage with numerous interactive elements and activities in the session and a provided workbook will be available for the attendees to download before the workshop to further guide and deepen participants’ learning. Ample Q&A time is allocated for participants to work with the expert facilitator.
Please note that this is a limited enrollment workshop, and preference will be given to full-time and continuing appointment faculty members in the tenure stream.
Application Deadline: November 7th EOD. Participants will be notified of their participation status by the mid-November.
Facilitators:
Dr. Harry Shirley, Editorial Development Manager, Nature Research and supported by Centre for Research and Innovation Support staff members Vinita Haroun and Elizabeth Parke.
